Q&A Section:

How does the music you make now compare to music you made when you first started out?

My music before was more centered around what I was doing at the time and the people I was hanging around. I feel my music now is more introspective. I had a lot of emotional baggage I always tried to push to the back of my mind which would always lead to depression. So now, I confront everything within my music. And, the best part about it, I’m having fun doing it.

How did you come up with your stage name?

Funny story behind that. One day in Jersey, me and my friends were sitting in my garage smoking and chilling telling jokes. Everyone there had nicknames given to each other by someone else, except me, and someone mentioned that. So they started going through names for me. Most of them had to do with my red hair, so it was Red this or Red that. Redman was already takenby NJ’s greatest. At the time, my hair was shorter so to keep it off my face, I would put it in a ponytail on the top of my head. I remember one of my friends saying “Carrot Top”, then another one laughing and saying “C.T.” and that stuck for a while. At least until I reinvented myself musically. Then it evolved to C.Thoughts.

How did you get started making music?

First time I started, I was listening to the radio and a song by Method Man came on. That was the moment I wanted to rap. And the journey I’ve been through from the start, my break from making music, to now, loving every moment of it.
